Boys Youth Lacrosse

The Owatonna Lacrosse Association offers competitive boys lacrosse during the spring season for players born between August 31, 2020 and September 1, 2011, typically corresponding to 1st through 8th grade. OLA teams participate in the Great Northern Lacrosse League (GNLL), competing against programs from across the state.

Spring Season Information

  • Season Length: April through June 7th


  • Two to three practices per week on weeknights. All boys practices take place at the "Old" Owatonna High School Football Practice Fields.


  • Games are held on weekends. There are two games a day on Saturday and/or Sunday


  • Tournaments: Two tournaments. One in-season, and one end of year tournament

Uniforms

Jerseys must be purchased at the time of registration ($45). Players will select their jersey number from a list of available numbers and will keep that number throughout their youth lacrosse career. All returning players may continue to wear the same jersey as long as it fits and is in good condition.

All players are required to wear plain black shorts on game days.

Q: Who can participate in Owatonna Lacrosse?

A: Registration for all boys programs is open to both in-district and out-of-district participants. Out-of-district players are eligible to register provided there is no organized lacrosse program offered within their home school district.


Q: Do players need prior lacrosse experience?

A: No. Lacrosse is a growing sport in our community, and new players are always welcome at all age levels. Our coaches focus on skill development, fundamentals, and learning the game at all levels.


Q: What equipment is needed for Lacrosse?

A: Required equipment includes a NOCSAE certified helmet (may be borrowed from the association), NOCSAE certified shoulder pads, stick, gloves, protective cup, cleats, arm pads, mouthguard.


Q: How are teams formed?

A: Teams are formed based on age, grade, and overall roster numbers. OLA strives to create balanced teams while prioritizing development and a positive player experience.


Q: How will families receive communication?

A: All team and program communication is handled through Crossbar, including schedules, updates, and announcements.
